One of these days, I'll get a chance to do a real study of radicals as inventors. As I've mentioned a number of times recently, there have been no shortage of them. I've just updated the Joshua King Ingalls bibliography once again, filling out some citations, correcting some errors and adding links for the patents to filed or witnessed. One of those, for Improvements in Oil Tanks, was filed by his brother Seth H. Ingalls, an architect and builder from New Bedford, MA, on which he was named as one of three assignees. Not only can we see the original patent in this case, but the patent model was recently auctioned, and a picture was posted.
